Telecommunications Solutions

Offered by the newest division of OCI Solutions, telecommunications solutions are available to enhance your understanding of where your telecommunications dollars are being spent while determining ways to reduce your expenditures. These solutions are offered to companies seeking to reduce their communications costs. We currently offer solutions for Nortel and Avaya technologies. Others, including Siemens, will be available in the near future.

Remote Switch Monitoring
If you are like most managers, lost productivity due to technology is one of the most frustrating things to experience. By subscribing to a Switch monitoring service, the time between the occurrence of an error and the notification of your PBX maintenance provider is greatly reduced. Often, before you even notice a problem, our system has already contacted your service provider.

Call Auditing
OCI Solutions can provide call auditing against your PBX switch. This provides an external auditing process for all calls. Providing you the customer with the facts you need if you need them in case of a billing error from your telecom provider.

Call Accounting & Reporting
Our Call Accounting solutions will provide you with reports outlining telecom usage by your employees. You can receive information regarding outgoing calls including what numbers were called, at what time the call was received, what extension the call came from and the duration of the call. In addition, incoming calls to any phone served by the switch are also logged. This solution will help identify and locate waste and reduce the likelihood of abuse of telecommunications resources within your organization.

Traffic Engineering
Our Traffic Engineering Solutions allow companies to do trend analysis of traffic on their trunks. By monitoring the traffic through the switch, we can provide data regarding dropped or missed calls and idle lines. This will give you the ability to determine whether you have too much or too little bandwidth and what days and which times of day you experience the highest and lowest traffic. This solution will help eliminate unneeded costs and aid in preventing clients from receiving annoying “busy” signals.

The Interface
OCI Solutions offers either a GUI Interface or a DOS command based custom interface for each of our Telecom solutions based on your needs. Dependent upon the error generated by the switch, the response you receive will be an email, a fax, a message sent to a pager, or the error will be ignored. Once the program is designed with the information you need tracked we generate the interface you desire.

Another popular interface we've developed specific for PBX monitoring services is by envisioning a map of the United States with each state colored green if all is working well. If one of the switches in that state should develop a problem the state will turn red. Once you click on that state, all the phone switches located there will be displayed with the problem phone switch also showing in red. Clicking on the red switch will display the error and or the problem that switch is experiencing. There are options for the monitoring company to check the error at that point and/or to send the appropriate client contacts an error notification via fax, email or pager.

The Hardware
Once you decide to add Call Accounting, Traffic Engineering or custom monitoring software to your telecommunications department, additional hardware may be required to perform these functions effectively. Our client-side hardware includes 4 to 8 ports – more than double what most current hardware has, and includes an Ethernet adapter and a dial-back 56k modem. Information from this hardware can be passed via UDP (a web page protocol). Because of a 20-year business relationship with our telecommunications hardware provider, OCI Solutions is able to provide Hardware solutions at a reduced cost to our customers.
